Dixie Tins
Dixie : 2 Square aluminium “plates”, “mess tins” which were kept in your webbing and which were used to eat out of. They fitted inside each other and with the fire bucket and pikstel formed your eating kit when in the bush or border.
Similar pattern to British, 2 piece 8cm x 13cm x 18cm rectangular aluminium with “wire” handles. One fits inside other. Fits in Pattern 70 kidney pouch or back of Pattern 83 ammunition vest.
Pikstel : Cutlery Set , a shovel and pick set. This was a fork and spoon which slid into the handle of the knife.
